watched this movie last Sunday…frankly speaking, one of the best MALAY movie that i’ve ever watched…there are times when you’ll laugh your heart out…and suddenly you’ll stop, pause and start to cry…and before you knew it…you’ll start to laugh again !! yeah…that was exactly what i did while watching Papadom !!

it’s a very simple story: about a dad whole works soooo hard and starts to neglect his only child…and in the midst of success…his wife died…leaving him with Mia, his 10 year old daughter…since then..he started to pay 101% of attention to Mia, over protective to be more accurate…

here’s the synopsis…credits to…

A funny comedy about a single father and his daughter, and every man’s fear when their little princess grows up and wants to be a woman! Saadom who is a successful Nasi Kandar businessman in Pulau Pinang. His wife’s last wish before passing away is for him to take good care of their daughter Mia. From a busy businessman who is so infatuated with his Nasi Kandar business, Saadom changes into a dependable father who is very much focused on his daughter’s life. As Mia grows up and she gets a bit annoyed with her father’s endless care. A huge dilemma arises as Mia is all grown up and ready for University life. Saadom then panics as he has no idea how to fulfill his late wife’s wishes while she’s away.

PAPADOM hauled 5 awards at the recent Malaysian Film Festival including Best Film and Best Original Story is slated to release in cinemas on Oct 8.

now i understand…why this movie was indeed awarded as the Best Film at the recent FFM…altough the story line is simple…it actually reminds each and one of us…to cherish..protect…care and love the ones that we have in our lives…life is so short: you’ll never know what gonna happen tommorrow…

as for the credits…i’d give this movie a 41/2 star out of 5…if it’s over 10..then i’d give a 9.5/10…yeah…and Afdlin Shauki’s definitely one of the finest movie maker that Malaysia have…i guess…as for’s only he that i forsee to become our next P.Ramlee….
